BACKYARD BABIES Guitarist Robbed And Assaulted
October 20, 2002BACKYARD BABIES guitarist Dregen was robbed and assaulted in the early morning hours of Tuesday, October 15, according to the Swedish newspaper Expressen.
Dregen and a friend had spent the night DJ-ing at the club Debaser in central Stockholm, Sweden and were on their way home when a car pulled up next to them at 3:20 a.m. Two men jumped out of the car, assaulted them and stole all their CDs, cell phones and wallets. Dregen was knocked unconscious and had his jaw broken. He was rushed to a hospital in Stockholm where he had an operation. His friend didn't sustain any serious injuries.
Although Dregen is a high-profile celebrity in Sweden, it is not believed that this played a part in the attack. Instead, it is more likely that he and his friend were simply in the wrong place and the wrong time.

BACKYARD BABIES are presently working on material for the follow-up to their third album, 2001's "Making Enemies Is Good". The rockers are also the subject of a soon-to-be-published biography chronicling their rise from an unknown band from a small town in Sweden to an internationally-successful act.
